University of Phoenix Forms a Partnership with the Institute of Chemical Dependency Studies
University of Phoenix has teamed up with The Institute of Chemical Dependency Studies to provide additional opportunities for healthcare employees to advance their education. In an articulation agreement signed this month, University of Phoenix will accept the transfer of certain credits from the ICDS curriculum toward the University’s associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. Under the agreement, 11 ICDS courses will be articulated for a total of 40 college credit hours. In addition, students will be able to take classes online or in local classrooms at one of the University’s 200 campuses, learning centers and student resource centers across the nation.
“Today’s students need plenty of options and flexibility,” said Christina Robinson Grochett, campus director of University of Phoenix – Houston. “University of Phoenix was founded to meet those needs. The articulation agreement with ICDS will not only provide busy students with an easy transition from one educational environment to another, it will also strengthen the nation’s healthcare workforce with well-educated employees.”
University of Phoenix is constantly innovating to help students balance education and life in a rapidly changing world. Through flexible schedules, challenging courses and interactive learning, students achieve personal and career aspirations without putting their lives on hold. As of March 27, 2008, 330,200 students were enrolled at University of Phoenix, the largest private university in North America. University of Phoenix serves a diverse student population, offering associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs from campuses and learning centers across the United States as well as online throughout the world.
The University’s blend of practical and theoretical instruction helps students put their knowledge to use in the workplace. No matter what their schedules or where they live, working adults have access to quality academic programs that combine online and on-campus learning in a cooperative, interdependent environment.
In 2001, University of Phoenix entered the Texas market by opening its first campuses simultaneously in Dallas and Houston. While the initial graduating class totaled just over 200 students, the school experienced record growth in enrollment in the Houston market. In fact, University of Phoenix has launched three additional learning centers in the Clear Lake, West Loop and Northwest areas of Houston and plan to open two new locations in Sugar Land and the Woodlands areas in the next couple of years to meet the increasing educational needs of the community. Currently, the Houston market has more than 320 employees and 600 faculty members who have helped thousands of local professionals meet their educational goals.
